Ingredients

For 8 servings

  • vermicelli100 g
  • milk1
  • sugar1 cup
  • condensed milk1/2 cup
  • rose water2 tbsp
  • cardamom powder1 tsp
  • pistachios50 g
  • almonds50 g
  • cream1 cup
  • banana2 pc
  • orange1 pc
  • cherries10 pc
  • ghee2 tbsp
  • coconut flakes1/2 cup
  • salta pinch pinch

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1

Begin by heating 'ghee' in a large saucepan over medium heat until it melts. Add the 'vermicelli' and sauté it for 2-3 minutes or until it turns golden brown, stirring continuously to prevent burning.

  2. 2

Once the vermicelli is golden, slowly add in the 'milk' to the pan. Be careful as it may splatter. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

  3. 3

Add 'sugar' to the boiling milk and stir until completely dissolved. This should take about 2 minutes. You will notice the mixture thickening slightly.

  4. 4

Pour in 'condensed milk' and 'rose water', mixing thoroughly. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. The aroma of rose water should fill the air.

  5. 5

Add 'cardamom powder' and a pinch of 'salt' to enhance the flavors. Stir well and let it cook for an additional minute before removing it from heat.

  6. 6

While the mixture cools, chop the 'pistachios' and 'almonds' into small pieces. Set them aside for garnishing.

  7. 7

Slice the 'banana' and 'orange' into thin rounds. You can also segment the orange for a more visually appealing presentation. Set aside on a plate.

  8. 8

In a separate bowl, whip the 'cream' until it holds soft peaks. This should take about 3-4 minutes using a hand mixer or whisk. The cream should look fluffy and light.

  9. 9

To assemble, take a serving dish and layer the cooled vermicelli mixture at the bottom. Spread the whipped cream evenly on top, creating a smooth layer.

  10. 10

Arrange the sliced 'banana', 'orange', and 'cherries' on top of the cream. Sprinkle the chopped 'pistachios', 'almonds', and 'coconut flakes' generously over the fruit for added texture and flavor.

  11. 11

Refrigerate the 'Lab-e-Shireen' for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and the dessert to chill, making it refreshing.

  12. 12

Serve chilled in individual bowls, garnished with a few more nuts and a drizzle of rose water if desired. Enjoy the colorful layers and delightful flavors of this traditional Pakistani dessert!

Pro Tips
